Hello there! I'm Anna Smirnova, the one-woman show behind Pants Magic. I'm not your typical fashion designer; I'm a sewing adventurer with a great passion to make every thing beautiful and purposeful. It's a pleasure to share my journey with you.

A Journey from St. Petersburg to Brisbane:

I hail from the enchanting city of St. Petersburg, Russia, where I spent my formative years. My background might surprise you—I'm a teacher of philosophy by training. But my heart was always drawn to craft and sewing. From the early days of stitching outfits for my dolls to creating garments for myself and friends, I knew that my calling lay in the world of design and creation.

In 2014, life led me to the vibrant city of Brisbane, Australia. My passion for sewing and design remained steadfast, leading me to pursue formal training in dressmaking and fashion design. Soon, I found myself crafting one-of-a-kind pieces with individual measurements, spanning from exquisite wedding gowns to everyday attire. My journey was guided by a deep dedication to the art of dressmaking.

Crafting Personal Style:

But dressmaking, as I soon discovered, goes beyond sewing fabric together. It's about understanding the unique personality, tastes, and lifestyles of my clients. This realisation led me on a path toward personal styling. I delved into the world of personal styling through the Australian College of Professional Styling and beyond, melding my philosophical background, love for art and fashion history, dressmaking skills, and even a knack for jewellery-making to develop a holistic approach to personal style.

The Pandemic and a Shift to Lingerie:

When the pandemic struck, my traditional in-person fittings were no longer feasible. Simultaneously, I welcomed my second child, making fitting sessions at my place less convenient. But my passion for creating beautiful, essential pieces for people remained unshaken. This is when the idea of lingerie-making came to me like a spark of inspiration. Lingerie, I realised, could be not only beautiful but also essential. It was the perfect canvas to merge my skills and knowledge.

Creating Beauty and Comfort:

My own experiences with sensitive skin and the discomfort I encountered with ready-made underwear served as a catalyst for my lingerie project. I envisioned crafting super comfortable yet stunning lingerie, tailored to the unique measurements, dreams, and desires of each person. To me, lingerie isn't just about aesthetics; it's a reflection of your true self, your style, and your connection with your inner world.
